  • Concepcion Ordinance Contradicts Ban On Use Of Compressor

    The use of compressor as breathing apparatus in fishing activities has been banned by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) through Memorandum Circular No. 129 dated August 12, 2002.

    The same circular served as basis of Executive Order No. 138 dated April 12, 2005 issued by former Gov. Niel Tupas Sr. which prohibited the use of compressor as breathing apparatus in all fishing activities in the province of Iloilo.

    The yearly Tampisaw Festival of the municipality of Concepcion is a celebration of water, the root of life.

    Concepcion Mayor Dr. Raul Banias said that the festival symbolizes the unending affection of the residents to the sea, which is a primary source of livelihood for them.

    "For years, water has greatly influenced our people's lives that is why we are celebrating a custom and a tradition that greatly appreciates the importance of water," Mayor Banias explained.

  • Concepcions Tampisaw Festival Kicks Off Thursday

    The municipality of Concepcion's 'Tampisaw Festival' is set to kick off Thursday to coincide with the Earth Day celebration which "highlights the importance of marine conservation."

    Tourism regional director Edwin Trompeta said the annual event is a showcase of how tourism and environmental protection can work together, highlighting the town's pristine environment, its clean beaches and marine resources.

  • Tampisaw Festival

    Tampisaw, a Hiligaynon term that means "to frolic" or "playfully wade in the water" is Concepcion's way of Celebrating Earth Day. The festival is held in Pan de Azucar Island on the fourth week of April.

    Known for having the most beautiful seascape in the province, the festivity emphasizes the necessity of conserving our natural resources with activities such as the Fluvial Parade, Agro Fishery Fair, Motorized Bance Race, Game Fishing Festival, Tree Planting and other environment education activities.
