    For the first quarter of 2016, I have been blessed with two group tours in Gigantes Islands in Carles, Iloilo. It thus presented me yet another opportunity to explore the province of Capiz, especially the waterfalls in its hinterlands.

    The road splits in Brgy​.​ Graciosa in my hometown Pilar, Capiz. The left goes to San Silvestre and the right to Tabun-acan. Because we informed our driver that we were climbing San Silvestre mountains, he turned to the left. But the mountains were on the right. The more we were going inward San Silvestre, the farther we were going from the mountains and the surer we were we got the wrong barangay. So, we turned around and proceeded to Brgy Tabun-acan.     The green in the fields of Tabun acan in the town of Pilar, Capiz is mostly sugarcane; there are few rice fields, and even fewer trees except in the mountains where nobody is allowed to cut them.

    Tabun acan is most accessible through the town of Lutod lutod (now renamed as President Roxas, which is separate from nearby Roxas City), where the sugar mill is located. Because farmers need to load the sugarcane onto trucks and transport them to the mill in the shortest possible time, the road is better through Lutod-lutod rather than in Pilar.
