Himala Sa Buhangin Festival Haven Of Art Food Music
The 81-kilometer stretch of sand dunes of Paoay will once again become a haven of art installations, food strip, and endless rave music for the fifth Himala sa Buhangin Art and Music Festival on Saturday.
This year, more than 70 Ilocano artists and designers were tapped to create the art installation inspired by the Legend of Paoay Lake. The lake was declared as a national park in 1969.

Believed to have originated even before the arrival of the Spaniards, the Guling-Guling Festival morphed into a religious practice in the 16th century, when the Spanish friars attached it with the celebration of the Lenten season.
Happening a day before Ash Wednesday, guling, the Ilocano word "to smear," comes to play, when the town mayor would smudge a white cross, made from damp and white rice flour, on to a person's forehead to indicate one's pureness. The townsfolk believe that this ritual washes away their sins.

The annual celebration of Guling-guling, one of the oldest fiestas in Region 1, featured festivals of four towns and a city in Ilocos Norte in an open category of the street dance competition last February 28.
Bringing a new twist to an extravagant showcase of dance movements to the tune of Sabunganay music, the Tourism Office of the Municipality of Paoay welcomed Pamulinawen Festival of Laoag, Pinakbet of Marcos, Dinaklisan of Currimao, and Bado-badoc of Badoc.
