Emerald Tree Skink

The Emerald Tree Skink (Lamprolepis smaragdina), sometimes (ambiguously) known as "green tree skink" or "emerald green skink". It is a non-threatened species although it not commonly seen but it is however, becoming more and more popular in the exotic pet trade. In the Philippines, it is called Tabili in the Cebuano vernacular.

    A recent study published in the scientific journal Zookeys has identified Caraga Region as a major biodiversity site for amphibians and reptiles, thus placing the region as a new epicenter for future scientific study and conservation efforts.

    ZooKeys is a peer-reviewed open access scientific journal covering zoological taxonomy, phylogeny, and biogeograph.

    Caraga Region is comprised of the provinces of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Dinagat Island with the regional capital at Butuan City.

    A long, long time ago (in 2002) my family spent the summer vacation months in Puerto Princesa in Palawan. My dad was based there for work and the whole family was able to spend a lot of time in Puerto with him.
