Among flora of important found in the PA are: nilad and bantolinao found within the mangrove swamps. Reports also mention the following important terrestrial species of hard wood timber in the area: Yakal, mangcono, colipapa and tiga.

Biodiversity conservation to enhance PHL eco tourism prospect
Environment chief Ramon Paje is seeking more biodiversity conservation nationwide to help boost Philippine ecotourism which government estimated as potentially generating up to PHP157 billion in revenues by 2016.
"The Philippines will be reaping economic benefits of biodiversity through ecotourism," he said as Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) stepped up its campaign for biodiversity conservation financing and ecotourism in the country.

Philippine protesters force mining company to back off
Tension rose on Wednesday morning after residents of Manicani, a small island in Leyte Gulf in the central Philippines, formed a human barricade to prevent a mining company from transporting nickel ore stockpiles off the island.
"The community was shocked when a barge arrived this morning and started to unload heavy equipment," said Fr Dennis de Leon, of San Lorenzo Ruiz parish in Manicani.
The priest told ucanews.com that mining operations on the island have been suspended "due to its adverse effects to the environment."

Residents of Yolanda-hit islands to renew campaign against mining
In an assembly attended by several members, the Homonhon Environment Rescuers Organization (HERO last March 9 issued a resolution calling for the cessation of mining operations in their island.
"Supertyphoon Yolanda further confirmed our long-held assertions that mining in Homonhon will make us more vulnerable to disasters. Because of mining, the natural forest covers that protect us before are now denuded. Alyansa Tigil Mina, a coalition of more than one hundred organizations that is challenging the current policy regime on mining in the country, is strongly opposing the designation of Nickel Asia Corporation as the lead private sector "development partner" for Guiuan, south of Eastern Samar.
