  • Cordillera Forests In Peril Says Regional Group

    The forests of the Cordillera region, the vital watershed of northern Luzon, are in peril of disappearing, a regional group warned Monday, the International Day of Forests and Trees.

    Citing government data, the Cordillera People's Alliance said that, as of last year, "In 2015, government data reveals that the forest cover of the region is 47 percent and it decreasing by at least 300-500 hectares every year."

  • DENR Eyes Area In Cordillera For Planting Program

    The expansion of the National Greening Program (NGP) targets additional 13,525 hectares in the Cordillera Administrative Region.

    Forester Julius Cawilan of the Conservation Division of Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) said the expansion of the NGP targets planting indigenous and fruit tree species to 300,000 hectares of open public land located mostly in far flung areas.
