Magellans Cross

Cebu City, Cebu

Magellan's Cross is a Christian cross planted by Portuguese, and Spanish explorers as ordered by Ferdinand Magellan upon arriving in Cebu in the Philippines on (depending on source) March 15 , 1521.

This cross is housed in a chapel next to the Basilica Minore del Santo NiƱo on Magallanes Street (Magallanes being the Spanish name of Magellan), just in front of the city center of Ceb ...

u City. A sign below the cross describes the original cross is encased inside the wooden cross that is found in the center of the chapel. This is to protect the original cross from people who chipped away parts of the cross for souvenir purposes or in the belief that the cross possesses miraculous powers. Some people, however, believe that the original cross had been destroyed or had disappeared after Magellan's death, and the cross is a replica that was planted there by the Spaniards after they successfully colonized the Philippines.

Southern Cebu Philippines Klement09 Reunion Tour 2017

Klement 09 this is my batch that finished the Nursing Programme in Mountain View College, Philippines in 2009. After graduation, we all went different ways. Too many different ways, and too far! LOL. Although we try to keep in touch through any form of social media, it is becoming so impossible to actually meet everyone in person. These people, along with our instructors and the great experiences during nursing school days, have influenced me in so many ways and I have learned so much of lifes lessons from them. They taught me how to laugh at my own mistakes and be brave enough to accept them, ...

Late Night Stroll At The Queen City By Two Young Dumb Broke Girls

An unfamiliar feeling aroused inside me while watching a softball match between college students who were very much engrossed with bickering and plotting out evil plans against each other. Several years ago, I was just like them determined to reach a certain goal no matter what the cost may be. But adulting happened. 7 Best Things To Do In Cebu

Linked to the rest of the archipelago and across the world through a modern international airport, Cebu makes for the perfect gateway to Philippines. One can find a great mix of metropolitan areas steeped in history, quick nature escapes (as beaches and mountains are never too far away) and, of course, lip-smacking food. Before you scoot off elsewhere, this booming paradise most definitely has lots to offer. While things come and go in this progressive province, I?ve listed down the classic must-dos when you come to visit.

    Cebu Is 2nd Friendliest Island

Cebu ranked second as the World's Friendliest Islands in 2016, according to New York-based travel magazine Travel + Leisure.

"Cebu is a former Spanish colony, and people still travel to see the remaining architecture. Of course, the helpful locals are one of the island's greatest qualities," said the travel magazine.

Three other islands in the Philippines cornered the top posts of the survey. Palawan was named the World's Friendliest Island 2016 while Luzon and Boracay landed the third and fourth spots, respectively.

"People are very welcoming, respectful, and friendly," said one thri ...
