WWF-Philippines Supports MWSS Annual Million Tree Challenge
The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines showed its support for the launch of Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage Systems' (MWSS) Annual Million Tree Challenge at the Ipo Dam on June 23, two days before Arbor Day ??" a day dedicated to planting trees.
The Challenge, which aims to annually plant, maintain, and nurture one million trees for five years for the benefit of six watersheds, is a staunch declaration of MWSS' commitment to pursue and take on an active role in the advocacy on water conservation and protecting the environment. Wildlife Release At Angat Watershed
About 50 wildlife animals that underwent rehabilitation were released at the Angat Watershed last week. The Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB), in coordination with the National Power Corporation (NPC), conducted the activity to strengthen the controlled ecotourism at Angat Dam.
Included in the wildlife release were island-collared doves, Brahminy kites, monitor lizards, and Asian box turtles.
The animals first underwent rehabilitation and veterinarians made sure that they can already be left in the wild, like in Angat Watershed ??" one of the government's protected areas.

In observance of the Environment Month, the Provincial Government of Bulacan launches a campaign to conserve Angat River with the theme "Ilog Angat: Patuloy na Sagipin, Pangalagaan at Pagyamanin".

Save Sierra Madre Padaca Urged
Commissioner Grace Padaca of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) enjoined everybody in protecting and conserving the Sierra Madre saying no one is excused.
Padaca's statement came receiving the Gawad Sierra Madre award from the Sagip Sierra Madre Environmental Society Inc., (SSMESI) and the Center for Bulacan Studies (CBS) for the Bulacan State University.
