Angat Dam is located in Barangay San Lorenzo (Hilltop), Norzagaray, Bulacan. It supplies potable water to Metro Manila and powers a hydro-electric power plant. The dam is 131 meters high and impounds water from the Angat River that subsequently created the Angat Lake.

Angat dam has a normal high water level of 210 meters, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

It has three gates opening a total of 1.5 meters to gradually release water that had accumulated due to incessant rains during typhoons.

Angat dam supplies potable water and energy to Metro Manila and nearby areas. Surrounded by lush greens, this place is also ideal for fishing, boating and hunting.  Wiki

    The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has urged the public to protect wetland areas in Central Luzon that serve as habitat of migratory birds from other countries during October to March.

    DENR Central Luzon Director Francisco Milla said wetlands are critical parts of the natural environment and ecological system.

    These areas include Angat Dam in Bulacan, Pantabangan and Paitan Lake in Nueva Ecija, Puerto Rivas in Bataan, Uacon Lake in Zambales, Canarem Lake in Tarlac and Candaba Swamp in Pampanga.

    Phase II Of Angat Dam Rehab Begins

    The strengthening and rehabilitation of the 49-year-old Angat Dam reportedly sitting near the West Valley fault line has begun.

    Engineers of the Angat Hydro Corporation announced during the opening of the Dumagat Livelihood Center at the Angat Rain Forest Ecological Park the completion of Phase I of the project and that Phase II is already in process.

    The Dumagat Livelihood Center's opening highlighted the 80th anniversary of the National Power Corporation (Napocor) last Tuesday. Napocor is the government-run corporation that has jurisdiction over the Angat watershed area.

    Only 3000 Trees To Fall In Angat Dam Rehab DENR

    The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has allowed more than 3,000 trees to be cut at the Angat watershed in Bulacan province, not 26,000 trees as earlier reported.

    The trees stand in the way of the old quarry from where the Hanjin Heavy Industries (HHI) would mine rocks as stabilizing materials for the rehabilitation of the 49-year-old Angat Dam, which supplies 97 percent of Metro Manila's potable water.

    HHI was the contractor commissioned by the Angat Hydropower Corp. (AHC) to undertake Phase 2 of the P1-billion rehabilitation project.
