Sombrero Island is located at the eastern tip of Maricaban, Tingloy in the province of Batangas. It's a mini island paradise inhabited by no one. The island can be reach through a medium size motor-boat or banka. One of the most visited beach attraction in the island.

A new marine protected area (MPA) has been founded in the Philippines within what are considered some of the most biologically diverse waters on Earth.
The new MPA, which has been given the name Pirasan, was declared by the municipality of Tingloy on Maricaban Island in the Philippines Batangas Province. Pirasan encompasses more than 54 acres (about 22 hectares) of thriving coral reef habitat. DOE to bid out 3 new geothermal sites
The Department of Energy (DOE)is opening three new geothermal areas, namely Banton Island in Romblon, Balut Island in Davao del Sur and Maricaban Island in Batangas for competitive bidding.
According to Ariel Fronda, Division Chief, Geothermal Energy Management Division, Renewable Energy Management Bureau, the three areas have been identified for private sector development after an open competitive bidding.
