Barbaza Antique Declares The First Critical Habitat Of Rafflesia Speciosa
Panay Island's endemic Rafflesia speciosa has gained local protection in the Barbaza town, province of Antique through Municipal Resolution No. 91, Series of 2013.
This largest single flower in the world can be found in the southern portion of Central Panay Mountain Ranges (CPMR) covering the municipalities of Barbaza, Tibiao, Lauan, Bugasong, San Remigio and Sibalom.

Environment officials called on the community to help protect Antique's natural parks and mountain ranges.
Antique has two natural parks ??" the Sibalom Natural Park, 5,511.47 hectares, and the Northwest Panay Peninsula, 7,092.28 hectares ??" and a mountain range, the Central Panay Mountains.
Central Panay Mountains cover the towns of San Remigio, Valderrama, Bugasong, Laua-an, Culasi, Tibiao, Barbaza, and Sebaste.
