Malinao Mangroves News
JUNE 11, 2016??"Early morning on our second day in Dedon Island we decided to explore the vast Malinaw Mangrove Forest just adjacent to the resort. We were offered to do it on Stand-Up Paddles (SUPs). We were quite excited to get started with a bit of trepidation because it was our first time to use SUPs.
This is a short presentation of video clips taken when we explored the Malinaw Mangrove Forest on Stand-Up Paddles.
Mention Siargao Island and the face of surfing buffs will instantly light up, and for good reason. Situated in the Pacific town Gen. Luna in Surigao del Norte, it is the country's top surfing spot which every true-blue surfer must visit.
Its signature spot is Cloud 9 which which was listed as No. 8 in the World's Top 50 Best Surf Spots by CNNGo, the travel news website of the Cable News Network. So-called because foreign surfers subsisted on the chewy chocolate bar when the obscure surf spot site was still a best-kept secret in the 1980s. Today, riding the 16-foot waves is much like walking ...
One of the destinations right at the top of my dream travel list is the Philippines. (I can't wait until I finally visit in October this year!) There are so many fabulous islands that I keep on getting mixed up with each other ??" think amazing beaches, gorgeous clear water and so many water sports! Stand Up Paddleboard at the Malinao Mangroves in General Luna, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte.
When we were in Siargao our package included a Stand Up paddle board either at Sugba Lagoon or the Mangroves. We missed the Sugba Lagoon so we ended up going to the Mangroves and it was AMAZING. It felt like we were in a different world. Like we were in a movie. Avatar lol. Seriously! It was only 4 of us. My boyfriend, me and our 2 awesome tour guides. It was so serene. You can hear the birds call out and communicate to each other. The fish jumping out of the water. The male crickets chirping to attract the female crickets. It was an amazing experience. We even saw a lizard crossing our path. ...
This is so surreal. It looks like we're in an Avatar movie. Those were our thoughts when paddling in Siargao specifically in the mangroves. It was so crazy how something that beautiful was readily available for us. The mangroves was like a place taken from a scene of the Avatar movie or some place you can find in the Amazon. It's a lagoon/swamp feeling. You don't know if there's going to be an alligator that would swim up and bite your finger off, but I assure you that there aren't any. Our tour guides would joke about it though. There are bats however, living in the branches inside of the man ...
