Situated at the heart of south central Mindanao, Tacurong City sits at the crossroads of Davao-Gensan-Cotabato highways. It is the only city in the province of Sultan Kudarat and was proclaimed as a chartered city on September 18, 2000.
This relatively young and progressive city used to be a part of the town of Buluan. It became a separate municipality on August 3, 1951 and has since then turned into a vibrant location.
Tacurong is proud of its multicultural society as it is home to migrants from the Islands of Panay and Negros, Ilocos, Cebu as well as Moro tribes such as Maranao, Tausug ...
It was as if the vast verdant valley – called Allah Valley – has beckoned, welcoming adventurers who are brave enough to explore its bosom. The valley has kept its secrets for so long, but finally it is ready to reveal them, one by one, to anyone who willing to treasure its beauty.

He defended the Islamic faith and united the Moro clans of Mindanao.
This virtuous leader believed in the principles of freedom and unity among the various people that were scattered throughout his Sultanate. The unity and peace that this courageous sovereign has strived and fought for is still presen ...

But nonetheless, for a change, I decided to join this packaged tour called Lake Sebu and Asik-Asik Falls: Culture, Nature, and Adventure Tour.

I recently made the trip back to Baras Bird Sanctuary in Tacurong (Sultan Kudarat, southern Mindanao) and was happy to find out that efforts are in place to protect the sanctuary and the birds are thriving. In fact they have sort of reclaimed a nearby area on the same property, increasing their nesting ground to about 2.5 hectares.
There is an interesting story about how the sanctuary started (you may want to check the link above). What special about Baras is that its a nesting and breeding ground, so there are resident birds there. Its strategic location: close to rivers and lakes and swam ...
