When someone says Romblon, the first thing that comes on my mind (maybe yours too) are Mt. Guiting-guiting and Sibuyan Island. Romblon, in my opinion, has been underrated. Although it may not be the least visited province in the Philippines, but you know that it wont be on the top list either. Even I, is guilty of neglecting Romblon and just passed it by whenever Im looking at our countrys map. Little did we know that this province offers tranquility from the bustling and hustling of Metro Manila particularly Tablas Island.
Going around Romblon was an adventure. Visited all of the 3 islands that made up Romblon. Had a chance to experience beaches that are unspoiled and less touristy. Had a chance to meet the son of the Mayor of San Fernando, Sibuyan Island, Romblon. Cresta De Gallo trip was worth all the hassle and travel because of its beauty. Binucot Beach, Ferrol was another beach that was worth the trip, shoreline was abundant in marine life. Too bad we hadn't had a chance to sample their seafoods because of the huge waves. But will definitely be back to roam around Romblon Island.
Romblon is my home town and I am very proud that I was raised in this small archipelago. My early years was surrounded by rice field, trees, and marbles, I thought the province of Romblon is composed of such but I was wrong. When I started traveling that's the time that I discovered that my home town has a lot to offer. From the untouched beaches, unexplored caves, mountains, underwater richness and may others. Tablas Island piqued my interest when Philippine Airlines launched their flights to this relatively unknown island last year. There must be more to this place than just the infamous Romblon marbles, I thought to myself. So I booked a trip a couple of months back and explored this beautiful island for 5 days.
Romblon has three major islands: Sibuyan, Romblon, and Tablas. Tablas (where I chose to stay) features sloping lands sometimes even rough to rugged terrain. Immediately, I loved how simple and rural the island is plus it sort of reminded me of my hometown back in the early days.
