Cowrie Island is located within Honda Bay, on the eastern side of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. It is 12 kilometers away from the city proper and it takes 20 minutes travel time by land. The island was named after the small-to-large sea snail, marine gastropod mollusc they called it "cowrie".

My husband Matt and I are both self-confessed workaholics. Although we try to make time for ourselves and our kids, we still end up spending more time at work and come home feeling burned out. And since weve never been to Puerto Princesa, Palawan, it seemed like the ideal destination for us.
Every time I ride the tricycle at Puerto Princesa, I am always offered the Honda Bay Island Hopping Tour for a price of 500 Php. Cheap, right? But this price is only for the round trip transport to the Sta. Lourdes wharf where you will ride the boat for the island hopping. I reckon that for a 500-peso round trip, this must be far. And I cant be in a tricycle that far, as for me, it is uncomfortable. The drivers kept telling me that it is better to hire them to have a sure ride back.
Before they paved the way for an easier access to El Nido, it was all about Puerto Princesa. It was a no brainer, almost. Coron is too expensive and El Nido is practically impossible unless youre an A-lister. Puerto Princesa was the easier choice.
