The creature blended in with the corals almost invisible at about 2 inches. Adorned with spikes from head to tail, it waltzed along with the waves of the soft corals, which it calls home.
Found along the coast of Dauin was the first ghost ornate pipefish I have ever seen in my entire two years of scuba diving. I almost missed it, if not for my dive guide from Coral Dive and Adventure Zamboanguita named Koykoy, who spotted the pipefish on a small family of delicate whip corals at a dive site called Cars in Dauin, a few kilometers away from the city of Dumaguete.

We had been diving in the Philippines for 7 days and finally we saw our first turtle. The large Hawksbill is the star of this video but there are several other really cool critters to see including a pair of Harlequin Ghost Pipefish, a Ghost Shrimp, Clown Fish, Nudibranchs and much more.

"Dauin, a fourth class municipality in the province of Negros Oriental, Philippines is about 10-20 minutes travel from Dumaguete City. The municipality has established several sanctuaries where fishing and boating is absolutely prohibited.
This includes sites such as Mainit sanctuary, Luca sanctuary, Dauin sanctuary and Masaplod sanctuary.
The Marine Sanctuary starts a few meters from the shore and remains fairly shallow for about 20-50 meters before it slopes down into the deep.
