MPA Effectiveness Rating With ToC Bio-os And Tandayag Marine Sanctuaries

Parallel with the MEAT, another tool was also being implemented in 2 Rare Pride Campaign sites of Amlan for the same purpose, to gauge the effectiveness of MPA management. One whole day was allotted for each site to be able to complete the rating, using these two M & E tools. This other tool was modified to incorporate the Theory of Change purposely for Rare Pride Campaign.

In introducing the tool, I first explained the Theory of Change and where each element falls in the criteria of each management level. This is very critical for the participants to understand the relevance of each criter ...

Tandayag Guardhouse Metamorphosis How This Helps Improve The Guarding System

The improvement of the guardhouse in Tandayag was at first not the top priority for Tandayag Barrier Removal for a main reason. The houses of the Bantay Dagat members, directly involved in guarding could serve as proxy since they are located in proximity to or very near the MPA. With this premise, I thought that the guardhouse may not be used very often.

In my several visits to Tandayag recently, although the guardhouse was not yet 100% finished, I already noticed two to three persons hanging out every time, in all my visits so far. The fishers, in addition to the assigned Bantay Dagat, ar ...
