PIA Plays Santa To Aetas

As part of the agencys observance of the National Volunteerism Month, Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region 2 has shared time and treasures this Christmas season with the Indigenous People at Sitio Bagabba, Barangay Agugaddan in this town.

The group, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 2 and the Informers Club Media Association (i-Club), gave some grocery packs to each of the households, chocolates and candies to the children and raffle items to the members of the Agta community in the area.

Regional Director Purita S. Licas said the activity is part of the groups annual "Project Inspire" aimed at giving inspiration to the less fortunate individuals.

"We are glad that we saw and felt the happiness through the smiles and laughter of our brethren here. This is the real objective of this project, to make these people feel that we care and love them," Licas said.

The director also spent time to relay a short story not only with the Aeta children but also their parents.

On his part, Robert Salbino, chieftain of the community, expressed his gratitude to the group members for spending not only their treasure but also their precious time to the Aetas.
