Hulugan Falls Talay And Hidden Sidetrip

Hulugan Falls is one of the hidden gem of Brgy. San Salvador in Luisina Laguna. Well known for its natural beauty and grandeur. It has a neighboring waterfalls named Talay and Hidden Falls.

I've read several blogs and reviews related to Hulugan Falls before we set on a DIY journey to Luisiana. Our day started at Jollibee Tikling where we meet Arman and Ronfel. We took a two wheel ride all the way to Laguna.

We took our 1st stop over at Famy, Laguna to secure our food for lunch – the famous Sisig recommended by Ronfel with chopsuey plus the 8 cups of rice.

We resumed our ride going to the jump – off point. We passed through to the town of Pagsanjan and Cavinti until we reach the town of Luisiana. Upon arrival, you will be guided by some of the friendly locals all the way to the registration area that is serves also as a parking area.

Since we arrived around 10:30 AM, the group decided to take our lunch at the reg. area to maximum our time as well as the things that we bring to the waterfalls.

We rode a tricycle to the jump off point. The roads were newly paved making our ride smooth. We began our downward trek holding on to bamboo rails. We were blessed with a good weather when we went to Luisiana to chase these waterfalls. We were careful of our steps as it was around 70 degrees incline and 80 degrees at some point. Along the trail you will past trees, vines, bush and if you are lucky enough some local wildlife.

Our excitement heightened when we reached and witnessed the alluring waterfalls. The strong cascades sent mist all over. Please remember to bring your changing clothes and waterproof your items as you will get wet through the falls. But in our case?? We decided to come over near the waterfalls to take some photographs and enjoy the moment.

After some time, the group decided to visit the neighboring waterfalls which is 20 minutes trek away. We were perspiring and catching our breath. It was a long trek for me since I don't have any prior preparation for this kind of trek hahaha. Good thing I have enough water to relieve my thirst.

There are boulders in the area and one can wade near the falls. We were so awed at the sight of falls. It is about two tier deck waterfalls. We spent half an hour wandering at the sight. We left the falls and started our descent.

The trek going back was knee breaker and heart pumping if you will proceed to traditional trail. So we took different route as our guide offered this shortcut trail.

It was a combination of river crossing with 8ft at some point lol (just kidding). River crossing is possible if the river is calm. Always practice "safety first policy" and of course be sure to prep yourself before visiting the falls.

Though our route was tiring, it was worth it since we were able to get a glimpse of the Talay and Hidden falls and we also had a side trip at Twin Falls in Kalayaan and a post dinner celebration in Paete.

Overall great ride not too far out from Manila. Till next time "Takbong Pogi".
