    Manila Bay, one of the world's finest natural harbors, deserves a special body that would take charge of its development and balanced growth while ensuring its protection, according to Bataan Rep. Enrique Garcia.

    The Manila Bay area, which is bound by Metro Manila, Cavite, Bataan, Bulacan and Pampanga, has become one of the country's most challenged marine resources, said Garcia. He pointed out that industrialization and rapid urban growth has led to the decline in water quality and the destruction of marine habitats there.

    Holiday today here, Day of Valor (Araw ng Kagitingan), I expect it to be free of usual EDSA traffic. Great for a midweek break to go birding. So I set off to Alabang to try for Copppersmith Barbets. They're pretty common birds, but it's not easy to see all their colours in good light, and in good distance ! This was my lifer at Palay Palay in September 2012, on a gloomy drizzling day, and I've never seen them nicely apart from one time at UP Diliman just few weeks ago while guiding UPM.     Weekend Guiding UP Mountaineer

    It was a weekend that I didn't have any birding planned when I saw Jops' announcement for volunteers needed to guide UP Mountaineer applicants. Various local groups often request WBCP for guided bird watching trips. This particular morning will just be a short one hour guiding due to the long list of activities the UPM group have for the entire day. I thought would be great to help out so I signed up.
