    Aetas okay 200 million dollars Subic solar project

    The Philippines' indigenous Aeta community has signed an agreement that paves the way for the construction of a pioneering renewable energy facility on their ancestral land in Subic Bay, north of Manila.

    Aeta tribal chieftain Conrado Frenilla and Aeta elder Bonifacio Florentino signed a memorandum of agreement on Dec. 12 with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority and local firm Jobin SQM Inc. for the $200-million project, SBMA said in a statement.

    SBMA is overseeing the conversion of the former military base into an economic growth center.

    Authorities found a variety of imported and exotic animals in a house in Barangay Sienna, Quezon City, a report on 24 Oras said on Wednesday.

    A team from Department of Environment & Natural Resources (DENR), Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), and Philippine Operations Group on Ivory and Illegal Wildlife Trade (POGI) found four species of more than 100 of snakes, Cayman Island crocodile found only in Carribean, different species of turtles, flying squirrels, iguanas, and owls.

    Three mining companies won the seven coal exploration and development sites offered during the first phase of the Department of Energy's auction of energy contracts.
