    The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in partnership with the local government unit of Burauen conducted the second Mahagnao Volcano Natural Park Outdoor Festival in Mahagnao Natural Park.

    Among the activities held during the February 3 festival included fun run, kayak racing, photo contest, and booth making contest to commemorate the declaration of Mahagnao as a protected area under the National Integrated Protected Area System through Proclamation Number 117 in 1998.

    Foreign Ducks Migrate To Mahagnao Volcano Natural Park

    The Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region-8 (DENR-8) in Eastern Visayas is closely monitoring the increasing duck population at the Mahagnao Volcano Natural Park (MVNP) in Burauen town.

    DENR-8 Regional Director Leonardo Sibbaluca told reporters his men have been observing the increasing population of ducks in the park, wandering in the two lakes ??" Mahagnao and Malagsum.

  • DENR 8 Leads 1st Mahagnao Volcano Natural Park Outdoor Festival

    The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the region led the 1st Mahagnao Volcano Natural Park (MVNP) Outdoor Festival held in Burauen Leyte recently.

    Leyte Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO) Ranulfo Abiol said that the festival serves as an opportunity for the DENR to intensify its call for the protection and preservation of the MVNP.

    "We are confident that upon experiencing nature of its finest, people will pursue for the protection and preservation of this protected area," Abiol said.

  • DENR 8 Spearheads Mahagnao Festival

    The 1st Mahagnao Volcano Natural Park (MVNP) Festival was successfully staged in this town last February 3 by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Region 8.

    DENR-8 Regional Director Leonardo Sibbaluca said the festival's theme was "Promoting MVNP ecotourism, conservation, education and ensuring quality life of local communities".
