    Waterfalls galore

Until recently, I've been to eight of Iligan's two dozen or so waterfalls. Twice I was commissioned by the City Tourism Office to document the waterfalls in pictures ??" first in the early '90s, and then 20 years later.

Being spread all over the mountainous parts of the city, it wasn't easy documenting these falls. It took days, even weeks. Lots of driving, on four- or two-wheeled vehicles, and long walks, too.

I was able to photograph Maria Cristina, Tinago, Mimbalut, Dodiongan, Langilanon, Limunsodan and Mimbalut Falls. I had seen Ikog Falls in faraway Barangay Rogongon, but unfortuna ...

We're still mid-way from a day of waterfalling in Iligan City and Iligan Bloggers Society still has a couple more in store for us. Satiated from lunch at Pampam Falls, the group was ready to move to the nearby Kalubihon Falls. It took us about a quarter of an hour's hike, from gradual ascending hills to steep rock walls with some natural pools coming from a stream above. From the looks of the trail, this promises to be an interesting one.

Pampam Falls, one of the more than 20 waterfalls in Iligan is located in Barangay Dalipuga, Iligan City. It is about 13 kilometers away from the city proper and about 20 minutes from the jump-off point in the barangay proper to the waterfall. It is one of the most accessible waterfalls in the city.

Pampam Falls was the first stop of our waterfalling adventure tour in Iligan City. We chartered a jeepney from the city proper going to Barangay Dalipuga. It took us about 15 minutes to reach the jump-off point. We rested for a bit, ate some snacks and then we started trekking to Pampam Falls.
