    Following the inclusion of the World Heritage City of Vigan on December 8 as New 7 Wonders Cities of the world, Ilocos Sur welcomes the New Year with festivals that promote eco-tourism and homegrown food like the Longganisa (native sausage).

    One such festival was the Sun Soaked, the Ilocos Sur beach fest on January 9-11 which featured about 700 athletes from around the country in five beach sports such as dragon boat racing, surfing, beach volleyball, kiteboarding and Frisbee.

    Only 30 minutes north of Vigan City, not far away from the highway, is the sandy cove of Pug-os in Cabugao town, which may very well be the best beach in Ilocos Sur.
