Exploring the Ilocos Region has always been on top of my travel list and Im so glad that I was able to explore two of its major provinces early this year along with my fellow legionaries. We were able to explore both Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte in a span of 3 days and 2 nights. The tour was actually a part of our so-called Outdoor Function that we annually do every summer. This was by far the farthest destination we have ever been as a group and we were all challenged by that super long travel time from Cavite to Ilocos. It was more than a half day worth of travel (we spent 13 hours on the roa ...
The province of Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte which is located in the Northern part of the Philippines is now one of my favorite places. The destinations and of course the warmth of the people is beyond words. Checking ILOCOS off my bucket list.
I've seen Chavit Singson many times, on TV, while playing with his pet, a tiger.
You know Chavit Singson? The former Governor of Ilocos Sur who has rose to fame during former President Erap Estrada's time. Controversial times. But I am not here to talk about his past and even politics. I am just checking if you really know him. Hahaha! Going back to the tiger. The videos were shot from his privately owned zoo in Vigan called Baluarte.
Ilocos is a region in the Philippines, encompassing the northwestern coast of Luzon island. It's known for its historic sites, beaches and the well-preserved Spanish colonial city of Vigan. Dating from the 16th century, Vigan's Mestizo district is characterized by cobblestone streets and mansions with wrought-iron balconies. Farther north, Laoag City is a jumping-off point for the huge La Paz Sand Dunes.

Mag Inang Gala's goes to Ilocos, our first adventure for 2017. Unlike our previous travels wherein we travel in group, this time we tried to the "joiners group".
Quick vocabulary "joiners" are group of travelers thru travel agency in one group unknown to each other that will spend the whole travel together. A smart way to travel on a budget.
Our Ilocos experience is very memorable to us. We got the chance to travel with my sister and Aeon's Ninang. And this is the first trip that I personally coordinated so I have this fear of we might get lost or the van will leave without us. But eve ...
It was 9:00 pm and I was still a bit sleepy from my 2-hour bus ride from Laoag City to Vigan. I waited anxiously at the Partas bus terminal amidst the flurry of passengers and conductors. I had arrived earlier this morning from Manila and the idea that I am finally in Ilocos was still simmering.
For years I have planned to go to Vigan as many people have been urging me to visit this heritage town once inhabited by the affluent Chinese-Ilocano mestizos. A town that is unparalleled in its preservation of Spanish colonial towns. After meeting Edmar Guquib (blogger and author of Explore Ilocos) ...
