The Batad Rice Terraces are located in Banaue, Ifugao. These rice terraces are shaped like of an amphitheater and is located in barangay Batad. It can be reached by a twelve-kilometer ride from Banaue Hotel and a 2-hour hike uphill through mountain trails.

This itinerary is based on our preferences. With only 3 days, we wanted to be in three provinces and maximize our money and time. There are so much more left to explore in these provinces. We wanted to skip the touristy spots so we took our travel refuge and used our time exploring Ifugao since it is one of the places less traveled. The ideal route would be heading to Ifugao first.
Among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites is Batad Rice Terraces. Unlike Banaue rice terraces, it is less famous and only known to those who are brave enough to find this hidden wonder. With the Tappiya Falls to boost, the place has warmed its way into one of my favorites.
Batad Rice Terraces is a picturesque sight that you can't afford to miss during your trip in Banaue, Ifugao. It's been visited by tourists across the globe including an alien from another planet called Thanos. For those who are not yet aware, he's the main villain in the movie Avengers: Infinity War. This already popular landmark has received greater prominence after it was chosen to be a setting in this movie. A blockbuster hit which earned more than 2 billion dollars worldwide.
Batad Rice Terraces in Ifugao Province has one of the most breathtaking rice terraces structure and is evident by hordes of tourists, both local and foreign, setting foot in this quaint and far-flung mountain village. Visiting Batad is now made easier, thank you to the road construction that made the trek shorter. From our first visit last 2016, we alighted from the Saddle Junction and trekked down for, I think, almost an hour until we reached the main viewpoint in Batad (where you get the first glimpse of the rice terraces).
After a few years of travelling, it still amazes me how even after 10-hour bus rides, there are still some places that can make you forget you need to pee. Batad in Ifugao has always been one of them for me. I've never been so enthralled by a collection of stairs, one that also happens to be a UNESCO World Heritage site. So enchanting it is, in fact, that we just had to include a picture of it in our local currency.

Of course, I havent been to Machu Picchu yet. But it definitely was the thought in my mind when Peja and I went up a little bit higher from the viewpoint to get a better birds eye view of the Batad Rice Terraces. Along with our 68-year-old guide, we traverse the rice terraces to start off our 2018.
