  • Campaign To Preserve Davao Turtle Sanctuary Launched

    A non-stock, non-profit organization has launched a campaign seeking to preserve a sanctuary for Hawksbill turtle in this city.

    The eight-hectare sanctuary located along the shore of Barangay Punta Dumalag has been developed into a Cleanergy Park by the Aboitiz Foundation.

    The village has been identified as a breeding ground for sea turtles as well as 66 other species of trees, birds and fishes.

  • Philippine Eaglet Hatches

    A Philippine breeding center trying to save the country's critically endangered monkey-eating eagle has been so successful it is now scrambling for space, officials said Monday.

    Another eaglet was hatched last week, the second in barely three months, helping the giant bird's fight against extinction.

    The chick, born from the natural mating of two birds at the Philippine Eagle Foundation, is the 27th born in captivity said its curator Anna Mae Sumaya.

    While Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has made a pronouncement that he supports moves to revive the death penalty, human rights group Amnesty International Philippines (AIPh) said it is an ultimate violation to human rights.
