Cebu is easily one of Ranz and I's favorite places to visit in the Philippines. We love the Queen City of the South so much that we went there three times last year. Cebu is the perfect blend of the past and present. It's amazing how a city that is highly urbanized still preserves their rich history. Other than that, the beautiful beaches in Mactan always make me want to book the next seat sale! Cebu has everything I want to find in a place I visit, that's why we keep coming back.
I've been asked a couple of times about places that are worth visiting in Cebu, so hopefully this answers all o ...
Around 6:00 p.m. when we arrived at Pier 1 from Tagbilaran Pier and rode a taxi going to our accommodation at Cebu.
We stayed at ALT Commercial Complex which was minutes to an hour away from the city. Our tour guide told us that that was not the most convenient location to stay if you're a tourist, because the city is the most accessible.
ALT is a dormitory-type of guesthouse. It's a small airconditioned room good for 4 pax which has two double-deck and 1 cabinet with 4 compartments. It doesn't have a private restroom but there are 8 CR's per floor.

Cebu is an interesting city of contrasts. Booming, diverse and vibrant, the city has incredibly rapid developments, when it comes to real estate and business process outsourcing industries, making it one of the country's most modern and progressive cities. And yet, it fascinatingly remains drenched in culture and history, dotted with historic monuments, houses and churches that would give you a sneak peek into its past. And one of the most remarkable historical gems that the city of Cebu has to offer is the towering Heritage of Cebu Monument.

After the Davao trip, my sister and I were still in a travel mode and were dreaming once again on embarking on a new trip. Unfortunately a lot of things were not in our favor. There was the weather. It rained daily, creating a somber mood with all the dark skies and the torrential rains. And worst of all, we were short of budget. And so, we decided to just go on some local tourist destinations.

The Heritage of Cebu Monument is a bronze sculptural tableau located at Parian in downtown Cebu. It depicts the important historical events and personalities that have shaped both the city and the province through the centuries. This was said to be an original idea of the artist Eduardo Castrillo and Alvin B. Garcia, the city mayor when it was still constructed from 1997-2000.
The monument has been a familiar site to me since I lived close to it when I was still reviewing for my licensure examinations. I only gave it a second look a few years ago, when a friend and I tried in vain to identi ...
