  • Katribu Assails Attack vs Aggay Family

    Beverly Longid, president of the party-list group Katribu, in an interview, condemned the indiscriminate firing in February that killed an Aggay and injured two of his six companions.

    All the seven victims belonged to the Aggay, indigenous peoples of Cagayan Valley in the northernmost tip of Luzon Island.

    Longid was with the recently concluded fact-finding mission that looked into the circumstances surrounding the killing of Julito Rosal, married with five children, from barangay Padungsol, Gattaran, Cagayan.

  • Soldiers Shoot at Aggay Family One Kille

    A seven-member family belonging to Aggay tribe were in the area only to gather bamboo shoots and rattan when two armed men believed to be members of the military fired at them. Julito Rosal died instantly and two others were injured.

    According to a report by Karapatan-Cagayan Valley, on Feb. 9, the Aggay family was on their way to Villa Cielo village in Gattaran, Cagayan when the two armed men fired at them.

  • Cagayan Rejoices Over Mining Suspension

    Three towns of Cagayan – Aparri, Buguey and Lallo – are elated after Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) national office suspended the Minerals Processing and Sharing Agreement (MPSA) of mining companies which had been extracting black sand minerals in the area in the northeast of Luzon.
