The Angat Watershed Forest Reserve extends in the highlands of the Sierra Madre , about 35 kilometers northwest of Manila , to the summits of 1,187 meter high Mount Oriod . It stretches along the Angat, a tributary of Pampanga , and the pent-up by the Angat Dam Angat Lake . It includes the smaller approximately 6,672 hectare Angat Watershed Forest Reserve Pilot Project in the south of the nature reserve. It is one of the nature reserves in the southern Sierra Madre- Biosphere corridor.
In the conservation area of enclosed lowland rain forests, the growing of fruit crops wing dominated, occupying an altitude range from 490 to 920 meters. The closed forests separate areas where bamboo forests and heaths and grasslands grow. The soil is referred to as nutrient-poor soils, it lacks humus soils.

While thankful that the repair and strengthening of the nearly 50-year-old Angat dam is now underway, Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado has urged contractors of the Angat Hydropower Corporation (AHC) to refrain from cutting trees at the watershed area.

About 50 wildlife animals that underwent rehabilitation were released at the Angat Watershed last week. The Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB), in coordination with the National Power Corporation (NPC), conducted the activity to strengthen the controlled ecotourism at Angat Dam.

Student power in one of Bulacan province's biggest universities has been tapped to reforest part of the 62,000-hectare Angat watershed that has been sustaining the Angat Dam, Metro Manila's primary source of potable water.
Students and teachers of Bulacan State University (BulSU) will start planting thousands of trees, including fruit-bearing species, in 25 hectares of the watershed on Nov. 5, following the signing of a memorandum of agreement to conduct the Angat watershed rainforestation project.
The university has 30,000 students.
