  • Bago Mayor To Help Injured Owl

    A day after learning the fate of the injured owl which was found in the forested area at Barangay Calumangan in Bago City, Mayor Nicholas Yulo promised to get the owl and turn it over to the Wild Life Section of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

    "I will ask the DENR to get the owl and help its rehabilitation," the mayor said.

    Owl Found In Bago

    A local resident found an injured owl in a forested area near the Energreen Power Plant in Barangay Calumangan, Bago City.

    Joselito Panes said his daughter Johna found the owl, who was injured by a dog, on March 12.

    The owl was caught off guard by the dog.

    Since Joselito raised chickens, it was easy for him to rescue the owl.

    "We put him in a cage and fed him. But the owl reacts when somebody comes close to him, maybe for fear that somebody might hurt him again," Joselito said.

    Endangered Grass Owl Rescued Released In Pagudpud Town

    Residents and wind farm workers in Pagudpud town helped rescue and release an endangered eastern grass owl found in distress by a village resident.

    Raymond Sesuca, Corporate Social Responsibility officer of North Luzon Renewables (NLR), released the grass owl at about 5:30 p.m. on Friday, July 28, at the Pagudpud wind farm with an existing reforestation project covering about 293 hectares.

    Sesuca said a village resident, Rene Castillo of Poblacion 2, Pagudpud town, found the grass owl near a rice field soaked in rainwater and the bird appeared to be weak.
