    NPC and farmers launch coffee project in Benguet town

    The municipality of Bokod is envisioned to be the coffee capital of Benguet with the forging of partnership for the regreening of the forests through planting of thousands of coffee seedling recently.

    The National Power Corporation(NPC) through its Watershed Management Department inked a memorandum of agreement(MOA) with the local farmers in Bokod particularly the Cobabeng Bobok Arabica Planters Association (CBAPA) for the development of more than 100 hectares of coffee plantation area in the barangays of Bobok-bisal and Poblacion.

    Mining town seeks watershed exclusion

    The town that hosts the country's oldest mines has asked the government to exclude several villages from a watershed reservation so it could develop an engineered sanitary landfill (ESL).

    A resolution approved by the town council has urged the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to facilitate the exclusion of Barangay Tinongdan, Loacan, Gumatdang, Ampucao and Dalupirip from the Lower Agno Watershed Forest Reserve.
