Mayon Volcano in Albay province emitted steam early Wednesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.
In a bulletin, Phivolcs said moderate white steam plumes were observed in the volcano's crater at 6:06 a.m.
The steam plumes are not a cause for concern because increased volcanic activity is generally indicated by gray or dark steam plumes, the seismological office told ABS-CBN News.
Phivolcs added that the steam may have been caused by a drop in temperature due to persistent rains or a decrease in the pressure at Mayon's summit.
